Decagon sells AI agents for customer experience. On June 23, 2025 it said a $131 million Series C at a $1.5 billion valuation brought total funding to $231 million, and that it had gone from zero to eight figures of ARR and more than quadrupled its customer base in a year. On January 27, 2026 it said it raised $250 million, tripling valuation to $4.5 billion, and added more than 100 enterprise customers including Avis Budget Group, Block, and Deutsche Telekom. No updated ARR dollar, margin, or resolution rate was published with the Series D. Customers are real; the valuation leapt past the last ARR disclosure.
Rubric
| Dimension | Score (1–5) | Notes & sources |
|---|---|---|
| Real customers & revenue quality Are there named paying customers, recurring revenue, and retention evidence? | 3/5 | Per Decagon's Series C release, ARR went from zero to eight figures in the year before June 23, 2025, and the customer base more than quadrupled. The January 27, 2026 post adds more than 100 new global enterprise customers and does not update ARR. Eight figures is the company's range, not a precise dollar.

| Unit economics Do gross margins survive inference/compute costs? Is pricing durable? | Unknown | Unknown — no public figure found. |
| Moat Proprietary data, distribution, switching costs, or tech that is hard to copy? | 3/5 | Per Decagon, Agent Operating Procedures let operators edit agent behavior in natural language while engineering keeps the code. Named deployments include Hertz, Duolingo, Oura, Notion, Avis Budget Group, Block, and Deutsche Telekom. The category is crowded.
|
| Platform risk Could a model provider or incumbent ship this as a feature? (higher score = lower risk) | 2/5 | Customer-service agents are a feature labs and CRM incumbents ship. Salesforce agreed to buy Fin, a direct category peer, which raises the chance the workflow gets absorbed by a suite. Decagon's AOP layer is the part that is less of a raw model.
|
| Team & execution Shipping cadence, leadership track record, stability. | 4/5 | Per Decagon, the company reached eight-figure ARR within about a year of coming out of stealth and then added more than 100 enterprise logos in the following fiscal year, including Avis, Block, and Deutsche Telekom.
|
| Funding vs. traction Is capital raised justified by verifiable traction? | 2/5 | Per Decagon, valuation went from $1.5 billion in June 2025, when ARR was described only as eight figures, to $4.5 billion in January 2026 on a $250 million round. Total funding at the Series C was $231 million. The new round did not publish ARR.
|
| Hype signals Demo-driven marketing, vague metrics, valuation outrunning evidence? (higher score = fewer red flags) | 2/5 | The Series C release says the round drew 5x more investor demand than capacity. Valuation tripled in under six months without a new ARR number. Enterprise logos keep it from being a concept-only story.
